Hi and welcome to my website. The information contained on this site should give an idea of what I’m doing musically at present and what I’ve done in the past and hopefully give an insight into the life of the creative musician.

It has now been almost six years since I moved back to this great city of Sydney. Lots has changed here since living here in the ‘80s as you might expect but one thing is for sure it is still a great city and perhaps more importantly is full of some great and very creative musicians. After living in a city the size of London and touring all over Europe and many parts of the world I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel slightly apprehensive returning here, but I’m enjoying both the challenges and the abundance of creativity amongst the musical fraternity that reside here.

I am currently involved in a few exciting new projects including the recently formed ‘‘Hammerhead’, reviving the music and the Art of Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers, 'SamBossa’ the celebration of Brazillian music, ‘The Aretha Franklin Experience’ featuring the great Shauna Jensen and of course promoting my own music with the 'Jason Bruer Band’ and playing material from my most recent CD ‘As Above So Below’. I am also doing my own duo and trio gigs all over Sydney with some wonderful musicians and freelancing. I also have plans to put together other projects very soon.

I’ve been teaching and lecturing at the Australian Institute of Music now for more than 5 years and enjoy my time there very much. After nearly 30 years of playing professionally it is a wonderful experience to give something back and to help nurture the new breed of musicians coming through this ever expanding Institution. Conversely I am also learning a lot from the students there and the overall exchange is very gratifying.

 I will endeavour to update this blurb as often as seems appropriate and in the meantime have a surf around the new pages and see the gig page for some exciting gigs coming up over the next few months.
