SamBossa live @  Lizottes Sep 28th
The perfect setting for the perfect band… Lizottes, Dee Why, was the venue of choice to debut SAMBOSSA, the latest lineup of sensational saxophonist Jason Bruer, who, along with the superb songbird Briana Cowlishaw, headed up the luscious Latin combo comprising Greg Coffin on piano, Mark Harris on upright bass, Mark Johns on guitar and Fabian Hevia on drums.
The show covered a plethora of Latin grooves which kept the audience spellbound, and achieved maximum enthusiastic applause.

Jason’s warm, sensual style brought the spirit of Jobim to life.  He allowed each band member the space to explore their solos while Briana performed gorgeous interpretations of well-known and beautifully arranged classics, all the while remaining true to the original 60’s vocal feel.  We enjoyed the program so much, we didn’t want it to end!
When SAMBOSSA play again, be sure to see them.  You won’t be disappointed!

SAMBOSSA celebrates the music from Brazil  including the remarkable works of one of the 20th century’s greatest composers, Antonio Carlos Jobim - the pioneer of Bossa Nova in the 1950s.

Many of Jobim's tunes have become Jazz/Latin standards, recorded by everyone from Stan Getz to Herbie Hancock.

Teaming together internationally acclaimed saxophonist and composer Jason Bruer and the sultry and evocative vocals of rising star Briana Cowlishaw, together with an all star band, great arrangements of Jobim’s tunes and other noteworthy Brazilian composers will capture the rare beauty, spirit and imagination of this music in an unforgettable musical celebration
